  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

Apart from raising your families of which of course you're very proud, do you have any bragging rights? Done something brave or saved a life? Overcome a phobia or a disability? Climbed a high mountain or done a great trek? No politics pleeeeease!!
I'll start. I've climbed to the rim of Mount Etna, they said it would never erupt again but it did the next year! I've parachuted and abseiled (rappelling) from tall buildings for charity, but as I love heights I got a big hit of adrenaline from doing them, so I suppose the hardest thing was forcing myself to go down deep caves and not letting claustrophobia beat me ..... at one time I couldn't use the London Underground!

Back in early 90's I was a night manager at a hotel next to LAX... Was involved in a rather significant drug bust. The guys had 15 kilos of coke that one of our housekeepers stumbled on while cleaning their room. They had hide it under a dresser... Not the smartest drug kingpins around. Actually got a commendation from the City of El Segundo for it...

I'm terrified of heights, absolutely pants-wettingly terrified.
I abseiled 127m down the Otis lift testing tower to raise money for the hospice who took care of my dad.

Well done you! First time I abseiled I got such a hit of adrenaline I was going round telling strangers in the street what I'd done! My 2nd was down a hospital but no rush after. Were you just glad to hit the ground?!

They had to prop me against the tower to untie the rope as I couldn't stand up.
I think my adrenaline spiked during, and I crashed afterwards.

When I booked it I got feet and metres mixed up so I was expecting 100', not 400!

I'm glad I did it, but I'll never do it again...

The first time I did it, I was the oldest in the group (49) and two twenty somethings were making fun of me, but when it came to trust her ropes and let go one of them couldn't do it and had to go down in the lift!! I laughed my socks off at her, she deserved it .......... thank you Karma for letting me witness it!

Started a business in my mid-20's and through very hard work, it is still going almost 35 years. Just before Covid shut it down I employed 62 people, some with me for three decades. No body gets rich here, not even me, but I've supported many families.

When I was a young man in my anti-establishment days, I was drinking with a friend one night and we decided we could find work anywhere. So we hitch hiked to SF, borded a plane one way to Maui, drinking all the way over and when we landed we had $13 between the two of us.
We lived on the beach and ate more coconuts than any man ever seen. :wideyed:
Oh yeah, we never looked for a job. It was just too fun.
    Life was good.

One day when I was walking my 4 Staffies I decided to take them partway beside the main road. I don't know why because they had to be on leads, but it seemed right to that day. Good job I did because suddenly a puppy ran out from a garden closely followed by a small child, I grabbed the child but couldn't grab the pup too which unfortunately was hit by a car and killed :( Then Mum and Grandma suddenly appeared and whisked the child away with no thank you for saving his life! Oh well another unsung heroine lol and we just carried on with our walk.

You're not alone. If you ever wanna chat about it or talk to someone - do it! Very normal and common- I didn't know there were others like me with the dreams until I talked about it with folks then we all started speaking up. Thanks for being there for folks, imagine the children and grandchildren that the lives we've saved may have - and hope they are good folks lol.

I took my love of history and art and fashion and turned it into a business. I had no idea how to even make jewelry or start a business, but I did tons of research and asked professionals and watched way too many YouTube videos, and now I am doing something I have a passion for and I’m moderately successful at. My jewelry is being sold in museums, antique shops and boutiques locally and I have an online business where I sell my designs globally. They’ve even been featured on tv and a magazine.

I was working in a relatively good job in corporate finance for a retail chain when I hit the glass ceiling and wanted to do more. When I approached my boss about letting me take on some more interesting projects, he told me that without a college degree he would not allow it. His attitude seemed like a challenge to e at the time. I was determined to show him that I was capable of doing anything I put my mind to.

No female in my family had ever gone to college before, so when I was growing up, nobody ever talked to me about education or career, and after high school I just went into the workforce. So by the time my boss challenged me by stopping my career growth, I was a mother with a young daughter t think of. I decided that my daughter needed to have a better example set for her, and I enrolled in college to begin work on getting a business degree. I went to school at night after she was in bed, so she didn't miss out on having her Mom at home with her in the evenings.

By the time I graduated, I was earning double what I had when I enrolled, and even more important, my daughter was beginning to talk about what she wanted to do for her career. I was involved with her schooling all through her life, right up through her own college graduation.

Today, I feel proud that I influenced and raised a motivated young woman who is independent and self sufficient enough to have just purchased her first home and is running her own business.
    Life is good. :)

My biggest triumph is something I can't really talk about here, but oh boy an I proud of the fact that I'm a Survivor! I'm the sort of person you may have read about, often when that person hasn't survived to grow up. Some of my friends know what I went through and why I left home with nothing and went it alone. But don't you dare feel sorry for me. I survived and I did it by myself.

About 20 years ago, I had the privilege of working on a project to make some reproductions of some original Audubon prints. It was a set of 50 prints from the complete set of The Birds of America owned by the Field Museum here in Chicago. Everyday for almost a year and a half I went to work at the Field Museum.

An art gallery owner who specialized in historical water color paintings licensed the images from the Field Museum. He was the one that selected the 50 images. As part of the licensing, he could maker up to 50 prints of each of the 50 images he choose. Each print started at a price of $2000, and the price went up with each sale.

Down in Argentina, amputated a mans leg on the side
of a mountain...His son came to the clinic about 2am
saying his dad was stuck? At the time we had an old car,
    with a 50/50 chance of starting...Well it didn't!

We ended up walking about 4 miles, what amazed me is
ya couldn't see anything & tripped over every rock...Only
the kid went straight to the spot!

Never wish to do anything like that again!
